About the Data
Welcome to Wollondilly People — a project dedicated to preserving the rich history of individuals and families connected to the Wollondilly Shire in New South Wales, Australia, spanning over 250 years.
What is in the Records?
Our records are compiled into two distinct family trees:
BDM Tree
Details in this tree are sourced from official records, including:- Court documents
- Church registers
- Certificates from relevant government agencies
Acta Diurna Tree
This tree draws from a wider range of informal sources, such as:- Newspaper notices
- Social media
- Other community or personal records not found in BDM sources
When available, we attach source documentation directly to individual records. Typically, a full date (e.g., 3 Mar 1879) indicates the presence of supporting evidence.
Duplicate Entries & Data Associations
Some individuals may appear in both trees independently. When these instances are identified, we record an association link to acknowledge the overlap. Similar cases can also occur within a single tree, where associations are suspected but not yet verified due to limited evidence.
Data Integrity
We have taken great care to develop these trees and link individuals based on available data. However, as with any historical record project, occasional inaccuracies or anomalies may exist.

A brief overview of recent additions is available on our WHAT’S NEW page. You’ll also find a colour-coded diary outlining the current month’s planned activities, which is updated regularly at the start of each month.
